[Call for Papers] International Seminar “International Relations Theory in the Construction of a Regional Cooperation System” on February 5, 2017 

In general, the main research topic of the NIHU Area Studies Project for Northeast Asia is “Transformation of Regional Cooperation System in Northeast Asia: Road to Transboundary Coexistence Thinking.” Under this project, Hokkaido University base’s main research theme is “International Relations Theory in the Construction of a Regional Cooperation System.” The goal of this program is to examine new possibilities of regional system construction as well as to discuss the reasons behind the numerous failures of mutual dialogue since the 1980s, looking at the past and at the present from the perspectives of international relations theory and history of international relations.

 

We are looking for young researchers to join this seminar at the Center for Asia-Pacific Future Studies of Kyushu University (in the framework of developing collaboration with young scholars). We welcome applications from young researchers interested in international relations of the Northeast Asian region.

Topic: Contemporary international relations in Northeast Asia. It would be preferable if the analysis is related to Russia in one form or another (in English).

Eligibility requirements: As a general rule, only qualified researchers can apply for a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research. However, if a researcher or graduate student has certain scientific achievements, they can apply even without an application number for a Grant-in-Aid.

Two proposals will be accepted.

Date and place of the seminar: February 5 (2017), Kyushu University Nishijin Plaza, Nishijin 2-chome 16-23, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture 814-0002

Allowance: Domestic travel expenses only.

We can cover round-trip travel expenses to Fukuoka and back (if you are not employed at your university, please write the address of your apartment) and two nights’ accommodation at a hotel.

Notification of selection result: January 7 (2017), email notification

Reports: Please send an English version of your draft paper by the end of January (about 10 pages, A4). Papers should be original, previously unpublished works. After this seminar, papers will be published as an SRC report; however, after a series of reviews and revisions, some papers will be recommended for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
